I've not heard of this story in the Liverpool Echo (or if it's been featured i've not spotted it) but according to the BBC, Liverpool is one of 12 cities in the UK to get a citywide Wireless internet network. In theory this would mean that you could have a laptop connect to the internet absolutely anywhere without needing wires or anything. You could check your emails etc whilst sitting in the park or what not.
This sounds like a pretty nice idea, but i wouldnt like to only use the cities wireless connection for things like only shopping, or banking as wifi connections are notoriously unsecure. Still if they can iron out the problems with security this sounds like an interesting scheme, well worth keeping an eye on.
