A former pupil of Buckley’s Elfed High School, Cherry started taking an interest in the plight of an African family during a sunshine holiday on the continent.

She has invited her many fans to contribute towards her charity work via her website.

She said she was not impressed by people like Madonna taking children to give them a better life.

Ulyanovsk Gov. Sergei Morozov has decreed Sept. 12 a Day of Conception and is giving couples time off from work to procreate. Couples who give birth nine months later on Russia's national day — June 12 — will receive money, cars, refrigerators and other prizes.
