Scared yet? The Government lost your details, who are you again?

As if we didn't have enough to worry about in life,

Two computer discs holding the personal details of all families in the UK with a child under 16 have gone missing.

The Child Benefit data on them includes name, address, date of birth, National Insurance number and, where relevant, bank details of 25m people.

As I understand it if you recieve any child benefits your details are now potentially out there and unaccounted for.

Just to put it into perspective, with that information someone can in your name - apply for a job, a loan, bank account, break into your existing bank account, open up an online bettin service with the cost going straight from your bank, find out who you are and where you are, find out all about your children, find out all about your partner... shall I continue or are you already hiding behind the sofa. Has to be one of, if not the largest security breach ever of personal information.

We have that over here, it's called Homeland Security! Ha, ha! People with guns don't rob people, people who are careless with disks and laptops rob people!
